13 years of chronic headaches

by gilme592, May 12, 2008 08:29PM
I've had chronic headaches (ie. all day every day), with associated back and neck pain since I was about 9years old- I'm now 22. I've been to a number of doctors (muscularskeletal, chiropractor, osteopath, naturopath etc), but no-one has been successful in finding a cause or cure. I've recently been diagnosed with epilepsy - I don't know if this is related or not?My headaches change from day to day in their severity.
Do you happen to have any ideas as to another reason/treatment for them?

Hi,

There is a known association between migraines and seizures. It has to be established however that what you have is not due to any underlying systemic condition. Based on what you have posted , it appears that you have been properly assessed. Have they considered migraine headaches in your case?

Migraines present as unilateral headaches that may be throbbing in character. They may be associated with visual symptoms called auras. They may also be aggravated by loud noises and bright lights.

Have you had an EEG done? A 24 hour EEG may help delineate between  migraines and true seizures.
