Question about symptoms for Ovarian Cancer

by cmm5sing, May 12, 2008 10:06PM
I have been suffering for quite some time with a lot of lower abdominal pain, back pain that feels like I pulled a muscle or strained my back somehow (I was diagnosed with a herneated(sp??) disc a few years ago) however the back and abdominal pain seem to come together.  I feel bloated most of the time and have definitely noticed a difference in my stomach, I don't seem to be able to "suck in" and my mother has asked me if I'm pregnant so I must look it.  I don't seem to notice much of an increase in urination however when I have to go, I have to go now and sometimes it seems hard to hold in.  I don't really seem constipated as far as having hard stools however I don't have a bowel movement every day, sometimes it is a few days in between.  I also have pain in my pelvic area, a pressure and pain that makes it difficult to walk, roll over in bed, etc.  I have a pain in the left wall of my vagina that I noticed when I had an ultrasound and I notice during intercourse, it has also started to hurt just on its own on and off.  When I went in to the doctor she did an ultrasound and there were to very small spots on my left ovary.  She suggested cysts or endomitriosis and her advice was that I go on the pill for three months, skipping the sugar pills so that I don't get a period.  After that she said she would order another ultrasound to see if the spots had gotten bigger or gone away.  Does this advice sound good???  Is there anything else you would suggest to me???
She did order a CT scan but it was for my pelvic bone and did not include the female organs.  I'm not sure why she didn't include those also, I was under the impression that it would include that area.
Also note that I have 5 children including 15 month old twins...so I have attributed all of these symptoms to the way my body has handled all of these pregnancies.
Any help or advice is appreciated.

Ask your physician to do a transvaginal ultrasound as well as a CA-125 test and repeat the CT scans to include the abdominal region.
