can you tell

by Conquerer, May 12, 2008 10:40PM
I am 15 months out of chemo  my last ca125 was 1.9   Can you tell when you are getting a recurrance.  I have been on arimidex and lately have felt nausaus lately.  went off the arimidex today since that is often a side effect but if this doesn't go away can this be a sign of a recurrance.  otherwise i feel fine  and i see my doctor in four weeks.  I always hate the time coming up to an exam.  I know it can all be in your head.  any ideas out there.  thanks

My gosh; your CA 125 is SO low!  Ca 125 levels are usually the best indicators of a recurrence.  Looks like you have nothing to worry about for awhile!

Otherwise, I guess most of us are paranoid about recurrences; every time I have a twinge anywhere, like my abdomen, back, earlobe (!!), I wonder if it's cancer again.  It isn't. : )

Trust the follow up exams and tests; CT scans every 6 months and frequent CA 125 blood tests can be reassuring.  Waiting for the results is hard, though.

I'm on Aromasin; no nausea, but everything hurts.  I hope to complain about the pain for the rest of my very long, healthy life.

Best wishes to you.

You look beautiful in your picture, if your CA125 has been a good marker for you, think that is the bast way to go along with the scans. they just watched Leslee's  to see if it doubled  or tripled, she did get the pain in her abdomen  and the scan then showed the 3 little lesions.  Good Luck,   marty

Did you speak to the doctor about coming off the armidex?????  I know someone that has been on it for 7 years and it has kept her stable.

If you are uncertain and don't feel great, call you doctor....I know that mine has always said to me, if something is wrong or you have questions, call me...I am your doctor.

Cancerhead is always there....I don't think it ever goes away.

Hang in there.

Congrats on your low ca125.  My philosophy is if my ca125 is level and I have no reason to think it's not a good marker, then I'm good.  I'm also 15 months out.  Have you had any scans yet?

My doc said it was ok to come off the arimedix for a short time and now day three the nausuas feeling is going away.  so i am going to wait 4 more week for my next ca125.  the only scan i had was 6 weeks after i had a pet scan and ct scan.  they thought the ct scan showed something but because i can't take contrast they order the pet and everything was clear.   when feeling better i will go back on the arimidex but i am trying to train for the danskin triatholon and i have to feel better than i have.  thanks for all the encouragement.  i don't write much but i read everyday

god bless
