Overcoming the fear

Hi~I am a BRCA1, BrCa 10 yrs ago and now OvCa-stage 3c.  Undergoing cabo/tax, having 4th treatment on Wed.  Ca-125 was 1300 pre-surgery and now is 56 after 3 treatments.  My fear of this 'thing' is getting to me. I have faith and try to keep positive but am having a difficult time of it.  My gyn/onc prescibed ativan and Zoloft and that seems to help.  I also went to MD Anderson but they said it was really too soon for them to treat me since I have not even completed my first round of chemo.  Am I alone with all this fear?  How do others cope?  I want to be a blessing to my grown children, not a burden.  We are so close and this is just such a shock for all of us.  Thanks in advance for any thoughts you may have.

Hi Sandee,

You are certainly not alone! (read my bio)  Sometimes I just need to stare at the walls for a while. Ativan and Zoloft are wonderful, aren't they though?

On the other hand, my bout(s) with cancer have actually made my panic attacks and phobias disappear, making it possible for me to fly again, etc.

The best thing I can suggest is to take control of anything you can.  Read a lot on the internet about how best to keep this ugly disease at bay.  In the meantime, enjoy your life!  Chemo is almost over. Go outside and spend time looking at flowers.  That lifts my spirits more than lots of things.

Thanks for your quick response.  I am happy for you that all your cancers were at stage I.  That is great news for you........IF you have to have cancer.  I am trying to enjoy my life but I let the fear of the unknown get the best of me.
