Herpetic lesions usually present as clusters of clear vesicles on a red base. Vesicles are bumps that contain fluid and in herpes ,they usually present with redness which may tingle and burn.
Is this applicable in your case?
Herpes is a differential here. Other differentials will include folliculitis and fungal infections. Folliculitis may also appear as red bumps and they may also involve the hair follicles. The bumps may be itchy or painful. Folliculitis and fungal infections may be transmitted through skin to skin contact.
I suggest you follow your physician's advice and seek follow up consult if the skin condition persists.
