7w4d Low HCG Rising, Yolk Sac, No Heartbeat *worried* Any Comments???

by pryncezz, May 13, 2008 04:56PM
I am now 7w4d preggo. I had my first office visit last Tuesday, a transvaginal U/S was done and yolk sac was seen, but no fetal pole. They had me go back last Thursday to check my HCG levels to see if they were rising. They rose, but not like they should have. Today I went in for my first OB visit. They did another transvaginal U/S which the yolk sac could still be seeen but no heartbeat or fetal pole. I was referred out to another location to have a more detailed ultrasound done this Friday morning. The doctor said it is either a miscarriage or the dates are off. Since I know my dates are correct, I am left with my worst fear. I am trying to remain positive, but it is very hard to at this time. Anyone else experience this? I am trying to keep hope alive. Thanks for any comments!!!

I don't want to alarm you but prepare you mind and heart for the worse.  I miscarried back in Feb. I was 11w5d or so I thought.  Come to find out my baby died around 9wks.  I saw / heard the heart beat on 1-30 or so. Its not very good that you don't see anything but God is still in control so keep the faith.  Good Luck and Best Wishes

It almost sounds like it could be a "blighted ovum" where the sac and the yolk sac develop,  but for whatever reason, the baby does not. I had a similiar experience with my scans in January. They saw the sac/yolk sac and told me I was about 5 wks. I *knew* I was about 7 weeks, not 5. I had known I was pregnant for 3 weeks, I couldn't only be 5 weeks! They did an HCG and three days later repeated the HCG and sono. Same thing. 5 weeks. HCG rose about 50% but did not double.

If you want an honest opinion, it does not sound promising. I know that is really hard to hear, and I feel really bad for saying that, but it's just my opinion.

I hope to heck Iam wrong...

I agree with the girls sweetie...II'm so sorry you're going through this traumatic stress...I'm glad your doctor is having you get the situation evaluated several times.  It sounds like you've got a good and caring doc.  Hang in there...don't give up....we couldn't get a hb with my 1st at 12 weeks and he's 7 now...just understand that with the picture they are drawing...things may not go well.  We're here for you.

Okay so now I am at a week after my appointment. They informed me I had a blighted ovum and recommended a D&C. I have read alot of stories online, and decided to wait it out. Today, I am now techinically 9 weeks preggo. I still have symptoms and no sign of a M/C. I have a follow-up appt next Friday. I have read articles about woman finding out they have a tilted uterus and the embryo not showing in the U/S until 9-10 weeks or even a little later in a few. I have already prepared myself mentally as much as I could, but the thought of it be a slim chance still gives me hope.

please keep me informed of everything.  I am going through a similar situation.  my hcg are too high they say and my gest sac is 7 weeks and baby 5 weeks. They think i wil miscarry as well, but I don't feel it. I go to another doctor today.  This will be my 6th ultrasound in 3 weeks and only one person told me anythign about what was going on.  Good luck and I will be praying for you.

Ladies please keep us posted and know that you are in our thoughts and prayers.  I too would hold out until I was comfortable with my decision.  I hope that you ladies can find some peace in these next few trying weeks.
