distortion version in one eye

by jerry2008, May 13, 2008 05:20PM
I'm 35 years old and have -10 on both of my eyes, about six months ago, one of my eyes can not see things clearly nearby (just like presbyopia), later on, this eye's version become blurred, doubled and distorted even with glass on.
The Amber grid  test of this eye, the lines looks like waves/\/\/\. I checked with the retina expert and did the dye test and the macular OCT, they looks fine and Dr. said it's caused by cataracts and need to do the surgery .
my question is, is Cataracts the possible cause and are there any other tests to verify ? and what's the possible cause of the sudden cataracts?

Consider getting a second opinion from another Eye MD ophthalmologist. If that MD also thinks its cataracts then I would accept it.

Sudden cataracts: injury, radiation, steroid use, heavy use of alcohol, out of control diabetes, some rare metabolic disease, positivie family history, bad luck.
