thick uterine wall and heavy periods

I'm a bit nervous.  I am a 46 y/o woman.  I have, in the past year, noticed my periods have gone from 4 days to 6 days with spotting before and for days after.  I always have a degree of pelvic fullness/cramping ranging from very mild to moderate.  I was 3 yrs overdue for my annual, and when I went she ordered a pelvic u/s which showed a thickening uterine wall and what looked to be a polyp.  That was followed by a transvaginal u/s, at which point they told me there was definitely thickening and what resembles a polyp.  THAT was followed by a hysteroscopy.  They were unable to find the "polyp", but the uterine wall measured 18mm.  They did an endo biopsy, and I am awaiting the results.  All my hormonal blood work is fine, thyroid fine.  What are the chances I may be looking at something dangerous here?  I have no history of cancer of any kind, my lady kin are prone to early menopause (sister started at 47-48).  I am about 20-30 pounds overweight, but active.  Nervous...
