1 yr. old with high fever

by leahc05, May 13, 2008 11:14PM
My son woke up from his afternoon nap with a fever of 102.  I gave him tylenol and it went down to 100 by bedtime @ 7pm.  By 8pm it was up to 103.  He has no other symptoms other than the fever.

What could be causing ths?

Take him to the doctor. Fever is usually a cause of infection and you don't want to ignore it especially when it's that high. He has a fever because his body is flighting off an infection and when you give him Tylenol it doesn't allow the body to fight it. However, you should not just let it go without the doctor looking at it, he may need a medication. It could be something as simple as an ear infection and he will need some ear drops.
