I am curious..has anyone here taken pills on an infrequent basis and been able to not take them everyday or every other day?  I used to take them for severe pms and back pain only when needed (about 2 pills 3-4 times per month).  I was able to do this for several years.  My husband then got hooked and started taking everyday which led me to do the same.  I wanted to stop and made us both stop.  He took everyday for 3 years.  I took everyday for 4 months.  We have been off for a month.  I am having severe pms and back pain and I am trying to get packed and ready for a big trip so I cannot lay down with my heating pad or take the time to stretch. The next 2 days are work, pack, get things ready, work, pack....am i fooling myself to think i can take a couple pills to get me through tomorrow if i am in pain and then no more..?

I can't speak for you. But it is doubtful that you will be able to sporadically take them. Most people when they cross the line to abuse. Can never go back. There is chemical changes that happen in your body that will cause you to abuse again.

please read the ppost by buttercups tonite.  i dont think an addict is capableof doing this.  i wish we were, but it doesnt happen that way.  that is the addict brain talking to you.  please be very careful.

thank you both.  I think i know this.  I was able to only use them when i needed them but i guess once i went to taking every day for those months i crossed the line to addict and there is no crossing back...  The problem is my husband tells me that i was not like him and i can take a few to get through packing and getting everything ready for the trip.  But i shouls probably not risk it, huh....

Oh boy...I used to think I could do that and WRONG I was. I am now in full relapse, and wanting to get my life back yet again.Please try to stick to motrin,advil..anti-inflamms.if you absolutely can, ok?
You did take them everyday for 4 months,and I just want to save you a world of heartache.

Deep down I know you are all right....in the past I could take them for a reason just like this one and then not take again for a month and no problem.  I guess there is part of me that thinks this one time is not a big deal especially beacuse i will be getting on the plane and going where i will have no access for 3 weeks anyway.  I guess I need someone to tell me not to which is why i am here.   I have been clean for a month and feeling really good and i have some in the house.  Probably should not have them here but.....can't bring myself to flush them quite yet.
