Heat Rash Anxiety Rash or something else

by Markmole, May 14, 2008 03:09AM
I am a 42 year old male who suffers from health anxiety. I have had itchy skin all over for 2 months which my doctor says is down to health anxiety and nothing to worry about. I had an infection that caused my lymph nodes to swell a couple of months ago and was convinced I had Lymphoma and have been really anxious now for nearly 3 months all blood tests came back fine and swelling has gone have been checked by specialist, although I have still had itching which my GP says is somatic. I have recently come out in a rash that started as flat red spots on my chest but some of them mainly on my stomach and back and under my arms are more red and raised and have yellow/skin coloured centres and a red surround all different shapes and sizes that look like little burns. The centre of these seems to dry out and scale over. My GP says they it is like a heat type rash and has given me a mild steroid cream for them but I am a little worried it could be something more serious. Am I being silly? What does this rash sound like to you? The patches/spots themselves are not itchy but my skin in general still is although not to the point I want to scratch all the time. Can you advise please?

I don't think the signs and symptoms you are describing amount to anything.  I agree that anxiety is behind your concern--and your itch.  The spots do sound like a heat rash, and will probably go away.  If you haven't seen a dermatologist, you should, just to be sure that northing's been overlooked.  But if that doesn't yield any new information, and it probably won't, then you ought to get help in dealing with your anxiety.

Best.

Thank you doctor.
I was just worried about the Lymphoma and because it is spreading.
Is it normal for this type of rash to spread??
I have had it for nearly a week now.
