Is this sinus

by loulee, May 14, 2008 11:04AM
Hi is this sinus conected

I have a pressure in my nose and checkbones and also into my top front teeth.  But also so much pressure in the nape of the neck, which when i press seems to releve the pressure in the head until i stop then the pressure is back again.

It is making me feel slightly lightheaded ond off balance too.

I have had this now for three weeks.  It seems to get worse as the day goes on.

Does anyone know if this is sinus and how long it might last for?

Thanks

Hi,

Do you have other symptoms like sneezing, nasal discharge, nsal blockade, etc?

Are you on any medications currently? Has a CT scan of your sinuses been done? Are you allergic to any specific substances? Have you had allergic reactions in the past?

You could take oral antihistamine medications like cetrizine or loratadine and see if it helps with your symptoms. Also take steam inhalation and saline nasal drops several times a day.

If your symptoms still persist, you should consult your doctor because then you would need to get certain investigations done and would probably need steroid nasal sprays and a course of antibiotics.

Let us know about any other doubts that you have and post us on how you are doing.

Regards.

Hi,

Thank you so much for your response.

I have the occasional sneeze, no blockage, no discharge, but I do have a continuous thick lump at the back of my throat that even when I swollow it is still there.

I'm not on any medication and not allergic to anything, the only thing I seem to suffer with is hayfever.

6 weeks ago i had antibiotics for the same symptoms, when it started to clear I went down with a bad chest infection  and when the infection cleared, I started with this again.

Today i am starting amoxicillin which the dentist has given me as he says I have a tooth infection.

Do you think any of this may be connected?  Like a vicious circle?  It is really getting to me, I end up in bed at 7 as the pressure has really built up by then.

Thank you again for being on the other end of these messages.

Kind regards
