Accutane-redness/pink face

by josh87, May 14, 2008 06:57PM
So i started accutane back in January, its now may 14 and i have about a month left. I am extremely frustrated though because i have been getting extreme redness on my face everytime im outside. I am going to school in utah, and i work outside and everyday when i come home i look like a lobster. I have been using the sunburn excuse for quite some time and its getting frustrating. Im sure the dryness of utah doesnt help, but is this very common? im contemplating just stopping the treatment now before summer so i can enjoy the outdoors. I havent really had any zits for a couple months and it wasnt that bad to start out with. But the redness will usually last a few hours and the next its usually gone, so i dunno if its sunburned or what? because even with 55 block i still get it. Any suggestions??? and how long does it take until the side effects of accutane go away after you stop??

Check out this forum for more information... there are a lot of people that are dealing with the same thing you are that have been on Accutane.

Don't stop your treatment unless your doctor tells you to, it is your best hope of long term remission from acne.
Redness is an expected side effect. Use bland products on your skin, I recommend La Roche-Posay cleansers and moisturisers.
The redness will go away within about 2 weeks of stopping Accutane.
Good luck, Eloise x
