This patient support community is for discussions relating to breast cancer, biopsy, genetics, chemotherapy, hormone therapy, lumps, lumpectomy, lymph node dissection, lymphedema, mammograms, mastectomy, radiation therapy, reconstruction, and self exams.
Scars are dense tissues which form from the previous surgery and/or radiation therapy. These dense tissues cannot be penetrated or evaluated very well by the ultrasound and this would result in shadowing. I believe that this is not something to worry about but I still suggest you continue with your surveillance studies annually. I would also suggest that you have regular visits with your surgeon or your oncologist so that your breasts can be evaluated properly from time to time.
Regards.
