Pain in toes and fingers

by amespi, May 15, 2008 07:26AM
For the past 5 months I have been experiencing pain in my hands and toes except the thumbs and big toes.  If I can describe how it feels it is as if when i close my eyes my toes and fingers feel very very swollen but when I look at them they are normal.  When I bend my fingers they feel tight. Pain is day and night. It started with my last two fingers then moved over to the middle finger and index and has stopped there.   My rheumatologist does not feel it is from my polymialgia rheumatica condition.  I am currently taking prednisone and methotrexate which started about 10 months ago.  Any suggestion as to what could be possible causes would be appreciated. I have been wondering lately if it could be from my spine constricting on some nerves.    I do not have diabetes. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

I took have identical to what you are experiencing which was sudden, one day I had nothing like this and the next in one finger te another and then my toes and so on ....
I am attending a Rheumatologist also but have decided not to take Methatrexate at this stage I have opted for Herbal medicine for now I guess in the hope that this will go away as quickly as it started .....
None of my tests were in my view definate enough for me to take a drug for it all I have is a Positive Rheumatoid Factor ....
So basically I'm pretty much in the same boat as yourself :-(
