Circular red marks multiplying!

by Andrew500, May 15, 2008 11:01AM
I went to a doctor 2 weeks ago to check on 3 elliptical red marks I had on my hip/legs. 1 was about 2 inches by 1 inch and the other were fairly small. He looked at them under UV and they didn't glow. He then doctor put me on 2.5% hydrocortisone and they have yet to go away. Now I have about 8 or 9 of these marks in all shapes and sizes. I have an appointment with a dermatologist but not until August! These marks don't itch/burn/etc.

Thanks for your help.

Hi,

What did the doctor tell you was the cause of your symptoms?

You should review with your doctor about how you are doing.

You could apply calamine lotion at the sites too.

If the lesions still persist, you should reconsult with your doctor and try to get an earlier appointment with your skin specialist.

Let us know about how you are doing and post us if you have any other doubts.

Post us about what your doctor advises.

Regards.

The doctor did not know the cause of the symptoms but said it might be dermatitis. He referred me to a dermatologist who I called this morning and still cannot get me in until August.

Hi,

You should use calamine lotion and keep the sites clean.

Review with your doctor, and ask him/her whether they could arrange for an earlier appointment with the skin specialist or whether you could see some other skin specialist.

Nothing can be said with surety about the cause of your symptoms without having a look at the lesions. And it would not be advisable to prescribe any medications without a confirmed diagnosis.

Let us know about how you are doing and post us if you have any other doubts.

Regards.
