Greyed out vision

by Xarilius, May 15, 2008 12:54PM
I experienced this problem for the first time this morning.

I was just reading something on the monitor at work as usual, then suddenly something happened to my right eye and I suddenly can only see through the top half of my right eye with the bottom half "greyed out".  Even when I close my right eye I can clearly see the bottom half of greyness.  A minute or two later I decided to go find a mirror to see if I can see anything different with my eyes but as soon as I try to stare into the mirror the greyness just sort of disappeared.  Can someone tell me what exactly was wrong and if I should be concerned?

This transient graying out of vision could possibly be visual migraine.  It could also be something more serious like optic neuritis, optic neuropathy, retinal vascular disease etc.
It is important for you to see an ophthalmologist to make sure you don't have a serious problem.
