what does 20/200+2 mean?

by sue2205, May 15, 2008 02:58PM
My son was born with retinalblastoma.  He is now 18.  The lastest eye report says his vision is 20/200+2.
I understand the 20/200 what does the +2 mean?
Thanks for any help.

He sees the 20/200 figure (usually a "E") and two letters in the line below that usually a 20/100 line the result could also be recored as 20/100 -2 (assuming there were 4 letters on the 20/100 line).
