coming off meds prior to ablation

by bumble72, May 15, 2008 04:08PM
Just wondered if those of you who've had ablations had to come off your meds before hand?

I'm hoping I don't have to as I know i'll end up in A&E.

I had to stop taking beta blockers about 5 days prior to the ablation for PVCs.  It was weird because the PVCs quieted WAY down prior to the procedure, but they reappeared in time for the ablation.

I was instructed to stop my beta blocker 5 days before my ablation and I was fine.  No issues whatsoever...and then after the procedure, I didn't need them.  Good riddence to the beta blocker!

I came off my calcium channel blocker 5 days prior to the ablation.  I was actually worried because my heart had completely settled down (go figure) but they were able to produce my SVT with meds during the procedure.

I had an ablation for a-fib and a-flutter, I was taken off the coumadin 4 days before the procedure (as soon as I went into the hospital they started me on a heperin IV), However, my doctors kept me on my sotalol.
