shooting pain in head

by MAXNROCKY, May 15, 2008 09:32PM
HELP!   I am a 54 year old male.   I am experiencing severe neck pain and very severe shooting pains in my head.   It is like a lightning bolt traveling through my brain.   The epsisodes are now very frequent only lasting a few milliseconds but the pain or shock causes me to wince in pain and makes me cringe and stagger when they occur.   I know I have three osteophyhte disc complexes which are pressing on the Thecal Sac.   Could these cause sucah pain/sensations or do I need to be worring about something else.   I am in physical therapy now with no relief.

Thanks so much for your consideration.

hi,here, possibbly, this shooting pain in head is occipital nerves trouble,Occipital nerve pain was due to pressure of a blood vessel on the root of the occipital nerve. so your tense neck can lead to this pressure.(normally in upper neck)
Take care!
