Early treatment for recurrence

by Jolene1, May 16, 2008 11:11AM
We all know that early detection and treatment are essential to control this beastly disease.  My question is, upon recurrence (my 2nd recurrence is upon me), is it important to initiate treatment promptly; is there harm in waiting?  I have no symptoms, but my CA-125 is rising.  Last recurrence, CT scan did not show anything definitive, so I opted to pay for PET/CT myself for "peace of mind".  Not so much peace, but I did begin treatment right away.  This time, I'm not so sure whether it is important to begin treatment, as long as I am asymptomatic (and as long as I can keep the monster out of my mind).  Any thoughts?

Look up recurrences in the Johns Hopkins ovarian cancer site.  I had questions about this and this sie answered me pretty well.

I think that is it, but if not, just search the Johns Hopkins site.  Good luck to you, Marie
