SKIPED HEART BEATS AFTER EATING

by oldduffer, May 16, 2008 12:58PM
HI I AM A 59 YR OLD MALE AND HAVE HAD P.A.T. SINCE I WAS 17. I HAVE SKIPED HEART BEATS EVERY DAY BUT EPISODES OF TACH. 3 OR 4 TIMES A YEAR. LATELY I HAVE HAD INCREASED MISSED BEATS AFTER EATING LUNCH. THEY KIND OF START BY HAVING PRESSURE IN MY STOMACH MORE SO WEN I AM SITTING DOWN, BUT THEN IT FEELS LIKE AN AIR BUBBLE MOVES UP TO MY THROAT AND THEN MY HEART MISSES A BEAT AND THEN BEATS REAL HARD ONE TIME. WHAT CAN I DO? THANKS

Not much you can with this.  Avoidance really is the only way to go, but since this is related to eating I suspect that it would be very difficult to achieve in your case.  The very important thing to keep in mind is that this usually very benign and is unlikely to cause any harm.  Hopefully, with time, this will pass.  Of course if this becomes very severe there are medications you could take to control your heart rate during the times when the palpitations act up.
