acne, rash, sun poising?

by ctsrick, May 16, 2008 02:46PM
I had my eyebrows waxed than went directly to the tanning bed. I dont ware eye protection and I use tanning lotion on my face. I continued to tan throughout that wek, along iwth outdoor sun in FL. I got a small rsh under my eyebrow its mainly in the corner of my eye. I thought i was from the waxing so i continued to go in the sun. The small red bumps neevr went away untill I  I began using cortezone creme andkeeping out of the sun. Now the bumps are gone and the rash is just light pink bt still visible to me. I dont kno what the rash is was or is going to be. I have had it for over a month ow but it seems to be getting better. My skin is also susseptable right now due to a acne producing medication      I am on. Any clues to what this rash is all about?

Waxing your skin sensitized it and the UV rays from the sun and sunbed made this worse. In future wait at least 48 hours inbetween these procedures. Hydrocortizone will reduce the rash but should not be used in the long term on the face as it can make the skin thinner. Use a bland cleanser and moisturizer until your rash has gone. I recommend Toleriane by La Roche-Posay, or one from the Eucerin range.
What medication are you on, and what condition are you taking this for? Eloise x

Im on HRT hormonal replacement therapy, which is essentially testosterone. Acne is a side effect, however I dont ever break out on my face. The rash has been fading but it is till some what pinkish. I have been keeping my face out of the sun and have been hoping the rash will go away completley.

I think the damage is superficial and will fade completely. Whilst it is still a rash continue with bland cleansing and moisturizing products and use Hydrocortizone sparingly.
If a mark remains after the rash has cleared, a vitamin E cream will help it to fade.
