My mom was recently 12/07 diagonosed with CHF, I was wondering what is the life expec. for someone that is over weight, has high blood pressure, diabetes, her age is 56 and she is about 5'4" and weighs 286lbs, and she is a smoker, however she used to smoke about 1 1/2 pks a day, now she only smokes bout 3 to 4 cig. a day.  I am very concerned about her health.  What can i do to help her get better.  Can she get better?  I love my mom dearly and don't want to see her suffer,  please someone responed to my question Thanks Dawn

People with CHF can live a long time , if treated correctly by a good Doctor..and cardiologist.
Your mother has some strikes aginst her already as - overwaight problem - and being a smoker - diabetes dont help .
She needs to loose some waight - diet right along with the diabetes problem.  stop smokeing alltogether would surely help !

Im sure if you already have a good Doctor ,he or she will tell her what needs to be done,
and how to go about it.

im No Doctor , but my Father had CHF for meny years and lived a near normal life..
there is always hope !
but your mother must be willing to work with the Doctors and stop smoking.

I hope I helped in someway..  I fully understand and feel for you.. take care
and all the best.  Boogernose.
