Could this be balanitis?

by curious1121, May 16, 2008 09:07PM
Every time me and my boyfriend have sex he gets little red pinpoint size dots on the tip of his penis, he is not circumsized. They are uncomfortable and they itch but are not painful. There is no discharge. We both have been tested for stds and HIV and are negative for both. He has gone to the dr about these and the only thing the dr could tell him was that the vagina is a dangerous place, and that nothing was wrong with him.He washes his penis each time after we have sex. Could this be balanitis? Could this be contact dermatitis? What else can be done to prevent this from happening?

If needed I can post a photo.

Hi.

This may be a mild irritation caused by the sexual activity. A balanitis is also a primary differential. Balanitis is not necessarily a sexually transmitted disease but it may manifest as a dermatitis.

You had a consult with your physician and at this point this does not sound very urgent.Your STD tests also showed negative results. This should offer some form of relief.

Avoid applying any lotions or creams on the area unless these have been prescribed by your physician.

Hi.

If it is possible to avoid sexual activity at this point, to give the genitalia a chance to heal may be a way of prevention. Protected sex may also help but just make sure that there are no known allergies to latex as there are cases of latex allergies and this may only aggravate the condition. Washing after sexual activity and using a mild cleanser in washing the area will be helpful. For uncircumcised males, good genital hygiene has to be practiced.
