4 yr old having imaginary friends..........

by stan24, May 17, 2008 01:03PM
hello dr,
i have only one child.my son is 4 yrs old and he has 2-3 imaginary friends, he  call them with different names n chat with them on phone n personnally,i dont know what is it? n the amazing thing is that all the names he tells me r very new to me, we dont know any person of such name.
some times when he he does some thing wrong n i ask him abt that, he takes those names.
i m realy worried abt him...is this normal in this age to  have  imaginary friends?
otherwise he is a very normal child, gud in studies, very talkative n full of energy.
plz help me.

Yes, the behavior is perfectly normal and does not invite worry. If your child misbehaves, just make sure you discipline him regardless of what he says about who may have committed the infraction.
