I really did it this time!

Hey ya'll,

Well I certainly did it today.  My son (Zach) had a baseball game this morning at 10:00 am.  Of course I went, and I sat there for 4 and 1/2 hours.  Well, that was pretty stupid because I look like Sebastian on the Little Mermaid.  For those of you who doesn't know who Sebastian is he is a lobster.  Red as a beet.  I just got out of the shower and I'm on fire.  I soaked some paper towels in vinegar and applied that to the burnt areas and it has helped a lot.

That's an old remedy that my grandmother used when I was a little girl.  It is supposed to take the sting out of the sunburn.  It works better if you use brown paper bags but I don't have a clue where you can get those around here.  Anyway it really does work for a little bit.  The big problem is it really smells.  Oh well, who cares what it smells like as long as I get a little relief.

I would like to take a minute to warn all of you not to do what I did and leave the house without sunscreen.  That's a big no-no.  I am sure regretting it right now.  If any of you have any home remedies you would like to share I'm all ears.

I'll be praying,
Carol  (OK)

Oh you poor thing. That must really hurt but it will remind you for next time eh?? If you have any vitamin E kicking around or better yet some aloe vera, they are the best for sunburn and will take the burn out fairly quick. If you use aloe vera though make sure you use some moisturizing lotion after as it will dry the skin somewhat. You shouldn't peel much after either using either one of them.

I hope you feel better soon.

Hugs
Moki

Ouchy Wa Wa!  I have been known to do silly things like that myself and whatever you do...DON'T USE NOXEMA!!!

I sat in a hottub for too long back in my party days and ended up with 3rd degree burns and used noxema and was I ever sorry I did that!  It started to peel and then it got infected because of the noxema...at least that is what the dr. in ER told me.  Not fun at all!  I have heard of using vinegar but I haven't tried it myself.

We in Canada have a product called Banana Boat Soothe-a-Caine and it contains Lidocaine and is a spray which saves you having to spread it on!  It works wonders for me as I get a burn every year with my fishing as does my hubby.  If you can find it Carol, it is highly worth it cause you won't peel and the pain just disappears!  Good luck and if I could I would send you some of mine honey!

Lots of very careful, untouching hugs,

Rena

Nothing wrong with smelling like a salad, lol!

I feel so badly for you - I used to do that all the time; burn to a crisp, peel ,then be ghostly white again! Now I can't be in the heat long enough to burn.

Hope you feel better soon!
