there are actually a lot of sites with a lot of info if you look around. You can also consult a Dr at a clinic if you don't want to go to your GP. There's a lot of conflicting info too but I found that pretty much all sites were of the same mind when it came to oral-genital and vice/versa transmission.
Just be careful. If you have a sore then abstain. If you're really unsure and want to take extra precautions there are some rather yummy flavoured condoms out there. You don't have to stop having fun...you just have to be more aware of what you're doing.

Yes you can transmit hsv1 from the oral area to the genital area thru oral sex. You also could contract hsv orally from performing oral sex on someone with genital herpes regardless of which type they have genitally though the risk is pretty darn low.
