The tingling sensation occurs if the nerve supplying the area in focus gets stimulated, either by noxius stimulus (those causing pain) or outside mechanical forces such as what you were doing. This is a normal occurrence and should not give much anxiety. You may also try stroking the ulnar nerve, which is located at the elbow area, at the side of the smallest finger.
