Has anyone heard on Lymphocytic Thyroiditis (cyst) w/ rare syncytial clusters of follicular cells present?

by Goldieluvsstuff, May 19, 2008 08:13AM
This all started with my primary care in September 2007 when I asked for a CT of my neck because of enlarged lymph nodes and swelling in my thyroid area.
Finding: Asymmetric thyroid w/ multinodular goiter and an unusal number of lymph nodes.

10/31-11/1/07- I had a Thyroid Uptake and Scan which was abnormal.

10/19/07 - I've always had trouble swallowing so I had an esophagram - small anterior cervical web and esophageal dysmotility.

10/19/09 - Autoimmune Serology & Endocrine Study: Microsomal= 6,432 High (<.35), TSH = 6.354, T4 = 0.85 (not too far off-  except for the autoimmune)

11/29/07 - Ultrasound of neck - found goiter w/ large multinodular

2/4/08 - Fine needle biopsy - Final Diagnosis = Lymphocytic Thyroiditis findings consitant w/ cyst w/note:  Note: Rare syncytial clusters of follicular cells present.

2/4/08 - Thyroid bloodwork came back normal execpt for autoimmune.

OK, now for how I feel - I'm tired, short of breath, gained lots of weight (originally lost 60 lbs), depressed alot (I've also had 17 deaths in my family in the last 2 years), I'm so moody and snap at anything, I'm walking at least one or two time per day but still gaining weight. My skin is dry & my hair is falling out. I have not had a period for 3 years (never had any children).

I'm not due for followup (ultralsound or bloodwork) until next year in Feb 09.
This Rare syncytial clusters of follicular cells present (in the cysts) bothers me.  I can't find any reference on the internet except for respirtory syncytial virus.

I've recently retired from work (30 years) and switched insurance as of 3/1/08 & I'm trying to find a new primary care. I love my Endo Doc and he's in my plan so I'm keeping him.

Is all this something I should be concerned about or am I just a big baby?

Has anyone heard on Lymphocytic Thyroiditis (cyst) w/ rare syncytial clusters of follicular cells present?

Have you tried to post with the Dr. Lupo's expert forum?  It is sometimes difficult to get in, but keep trying.  I finally got in yesterday afternoon and he answered me last night at about 9:30.  Hugs to you  - I wish I had some answers for you, I'm sorry.  I am really new here too and looking for answers with mine as well.
