Just diagnosed with PCOS

After 2 and a half years of complete hell, my doctors have finally figured out what is wrong with me and I am so thankful. With being thankful comes being scared.. I don't really know a whole lot about the disease and I don't know the first thing that I need to do to better myself. I'm either going to be referred to an endocrinologist or my gynecologist will take on the care of the disease if she feels that she can. I have a couple questions that I am hoping all of you could help me with, what is the first thing i need to start doing to better my health. What kind of process should I expect within the upcoming months? Will I start to feel better quickly or is it a gradual thing once they've got you on medication? Another big question that I have is.. can high blood pressure be associated with pcos? My doctor and I have noticed that since my 3rd surgery, my blood pressure was high at the hospital and just lately she has noticed it has been extremely high again.. she has been doing testing on my kidneys and my heart because she believes there is an underlying problem. I am also being referred to a neuphrologist and a cardiologist in the meantime. Before being put on blood pressure medication (I am 19 years old) my blood pressure was steadily at 150-155/102-107... if anyone can give me an insight into this, it would be greatly appreciated!
thank you so much,

take care,

steph

yes high blood pressure is a symptom of PCOS, so is high cholesterol ( I have both). I started with metformin ~1.5 months ago. I had nausea and some diarehea, but I didn't care. I have lost ~22 pounds so I am happy. The doc also put me on a diaretic (don't remeber the name) it is to try to help me grow my hair back.

I am glad they found a diag for you. that is the most frustraiting thing is trying to find out what is wrong.
