Broken tooth

by Chasity2000, May 19, 2008 10:46AM
Around Christmas I went to my dentist for a check up. He said my top back tooth was in bad shape. It has a couple of fillings and he said doing a crown would be a waste of money, the best option would be to pull it.  I asked if I could wait and he said it wasn't a big deal but he would do it soon.

Well.....yesterday while just sitting around the house, a piece of the tooth came off. It doesn't hurt but I wonder what my options are now. Since there was some decay should I let an oral surgon pull it rather than my reg. dentist. I have good insurance..  AND in the mean time what can I do for it. No pain now but fear it will come soon.

If the tooth is non-restorable and hopeless, extraction is indicated. Oral surgeons generally perform better surgical procedures than general dentists.
