I was put on dexamethasone (similar to prednisone but stronger) when I was diagnosed with adrenal hyperplasia. It's caused wacky problems with my menstrual cycle. I've had really pelvic/ovarian pain for months now. I'm also on the 11th week of my menstrual period... yes, 11 weeks of bleeding.
I've been to the obgyn, who tried birthcontrol to stop the period, but no luck so far. I got angry and quit taking the dexamethasone and the bleeding has almost stopped and the pain is completely gone.
My endocrinologist, obgyn, and gp all say that steroids can affect female hormones and cycles, but it's rare and no one knows yet why it effects some and not others.
I was diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome long ago and so I've basically read everything I can get my hands on about hormone imbalances. If you're having clear/whitish discharge from your nipples then you should have your prolactin levels checked. Some medications can cause (hyper)prolactinemia. Check the meds you're on and see if it's a side effect listed.
Hope this helps. Best of luck to you.
