What can i do?

by moniquec, May 19, 2008 12:50PM
Last year (11-25-07) i went to my local er for pain in my lower right side I was immediatley diagnosed with appendicitis had a Ct scan found a 1.6 cm cyst on right ovary with free flowing fluid. I proceeded to go to my family physician whom sent me to an ob gyn (12-27_07) i had an vaginal ultrasound was told there wasn't any thing there. Since then I have been in constant pain I kept complaining to my dr who sent me for another Ct scan (5-16-08) this time they saw a 1.6 cm cyst with free flowing fluid, also a 2.7 cm on the left side. I had a hysterectomy (12_04) Why did'nt anything show up with the hysterectomy or the vaginal ultrasound? What are my options now? This is really affecting every apect of my life especially with my husband and kids what are my options? Do i have any options at all?

Hi There,
Sorry you are feeling so lousy. I know how uncomfortable the presence of cysts can make a person feel. Since cysts are very normal in women of child bearing age, I would assume they have developed since your ultrasound. They come and go quite frequently and many times there are no symptoms at all. Why did you have a partial hysterectomy? When they leave the ovaries, cysts can form. Fluid can be a sign that a cyst has burst.
You need to stay on top of this, keep pushing for tests. Normally you should have repeat vaginal ultrasounds to make sure the cysts have resolved.
Hope you get some answers and feel better. It sure is no fun to be in constant pain

Thank you for your advice. I had the hysterectomy due to fibroids on the uterus at the time there where no cysts , that was in 2004. I had no problems till Nov,2007 when the pain just hit and my husband rushed me to the ER where i got the first CT scan the cyst that was discovered was 1.6cm.on the right ovary. My primary physcian sent me to an OBGYN who then gave me an vaginal ultrasound but, say there was nothing so months of pain later i finally get the 2nd scan where the 2nd cyst on the left ovary is shown at 2.7cm the Dr.s want me to keep the ovarys they think im to young i'm 31 with 4 kids i've already had my uterus removed so why not. I'm in constant pain I just recieved another appt with my Dr.s "trusted friend" yes i'm just a wee bit unsure how this is going to turn out ui've been poked and prodded made to drink horrible tasting drinks given 3 pain meds and other meds that are the supposed one to make it all right.

Thanks for the support it feels so good to be able to vent about htese things and have someone who understands and doesn't seem to look at you like your crazy.
