Weight Loss after surgery

by TrudieC, May 19, 2008 02:52PM
For those of you who have had your cysts and fibroids removed or hysterectomies, have you found that the weight from those issues were large and that you weigh less now?  I'm looking for a silver lining here girls!  I've put on 8 lbs. since this all started!!!

Hey Trudie,
My cyst was so tiny that it wouldn't impact the weight issue at all.. And truly forgive me..I'm not trying to minimize this, but wondering; if you've become less active since surgery, that may explain some of it. . and what may you be eating that's different?? When I'm "recovering" from anything, I tend to hit the carbs, sugar , etc.. I'd suggest hormones as well, but I don't think you've been on them long enough or are you even on them at all ?  Otherwise I can't think of a connection...
For me it's "Do as I say, not as I do".. I was a Weight Watcher counselor for over 10 years and I know what I"m SUPPOSED to do.. I just don't necessarily do it !!  Try drinking more fluids since you may not be hungry..just thirsty and concentrate on fruits, veggies and limit the carbs and sugar.. and keep your hands busy-- crosswords, Sudoku, needlework.....Good luck

Take care,
Sandy

Thanks Sandy.  I have to admit I am eating pretty much what I want right now as a way of dealing with the stress of my health problems and the upcoming surgery.  I am taking this as a wake up call to take care of myself better after I'm recovered and lose weight and exercise.  I just wondered if the weight of the cysts and fibroids can be significant.

I had a lot of cysts on both of my ovaries. I started to develop the pregnant look. I am not sure if it is just me but I lost quite a few pound after surgery. (However, I had an ovary removed each time). Good luck on your upcoming surgery!

Trudie.. so sorry.. don't know why I was thinking surgery was behind you !! But nevertheless, the stress of the upcoming event may not be helping. I can certainly relate. My problem too is that I "graze"... have no idea what I'm really eating.. unless I journal it..

Anyway, be sure to let us know about the surgery !!!

Take care,
Sandy
