Kratom? Anyone.........Dutchess?

by wheredidmyenergygo?, May 21, 2007 12:00AM
Okay, my energy was so low last week that I ordered some kratom.  It just came today  it is 10x extract.  I'm not sure what to do!!!!  My energy really increased this last weekend I'm just dealing with the bloat!  However, my new father in law is coming in 5 days to stay for a month!!!!  Oh heah, didi I mention that i've never met him before?  I sure could use a little boost to finish the house we bought three weeks before I went c/t.  Stuff likes this scares me thats why I'm suprised that I ever got hooks on meds.  I also heard that kratom can give a false positive on a drug test.  The other thing is that if I do use it I don't know how to prepaare it.  Any feed back would be greatly appriciated!!!!!!!!!

First and foremost... BREATHE! Calm down hunny. You have a ton going on right now i know. Tell me how long it's been again since you quit c/t? The Kratom will bind to your mu opiate receptors just liike hydrocodone and most other opiates. So it can be addictive after prolonged use but the withdrawal symptoms have only been reported to be very mild  and completely stop after 5 days at most. Remember these are just reports from people who have used it. I have patients that have said it was a lifesaver for pain and withdrawal. Others don't have such a great experience with it. There has not been any research done in humans (this is common with herbs) but the animal models report what most people have reported with kratom use. It does have analgesic effects similar to codeine or propoxephene(the opioid in darvocet). It also has an allkaloid which is a calcium channel blocker and reduces NMDA (sounds like a chem. book, I know) but basically there has been a lot of research on NMDA and the development of dependency so this may be responsible for kratom being a safer alternative to methadone and the very mild and short lived withdrawal symptoms if they appear at all.

I believe the standard dose is 50mg. You can steep it as s tea for 15 or 20 minutes. It can also be smoked but the amount you need for the analgesic effect would be very hard to smoke. The nice thing about kratom for you is that it has a stimulant effect in small doses (one of the allkaloids in kratom acts very similar to coffee) and in higher doses it has a sedative  and analgesic effect.
