Perifolliculitis

by Niambe, May 19, 2008 06:53PM
I have been suffering with dry, itchy scalp for about 5 years. My scalp has bleeding and pus and it shows up in different areas. I have only recently found out, through a biopsy, that I have Perifolliculitis and Dermal Fibrosis. I have taken doxycycline for 10 days and had some relief. I thought it was gone for good. Now I am losing my hair as if I have male pattern baldness, I am a 34 yr old female. I understand that this condition is prodominetly seen in males. I also have hair growing on my chin since I was in my 20's. I need help!! This is ruining my self esteem and my social life, not to mention it also hurts. What do I need to do to make this go away for good?

I will see a dermatologist in the next few weeks. I don't think I'm allergic to anything because I do nothing to my hair. As a matter of fact, since it was starting to fall out I helped it along by shaving my hair. Now I can wash it 3 times a week as prescribed. I know how you feel about being self conscious, I only went to one hairstylist, because I didn't want other people questioning me about my hair. Since she moved her shop the best thing for me to do was to shave it off. The doctors don't seem to care to much about it, because it's not life threatening. I think it's worse than that because I have been dealing with depression too. If you find any remedies, please don't hesitate to share.

Hey there. How are you doing. I am having a really bad day with depression. i have been trying to hide the depression, but couldn't today. I feel so bad because i have to boys who have to see me like this. i usually go in the bathroom and cry so they don't see me, but they know something is wrong with me. i don't want there day to be ruined because of what  i am going through, but i hate going outside. and now that the weather is nice they are wondering why i am in the house. Do you have children?
