Pimozide causes anxiety?

by molly0, May 21, 2008 01:10AM
Has anyone ever heard of Pimozide causing anxiety?  My 14 year old daughter has severe anxiety, and Tourette Syndrome.  She has been taking Pimozide for several years, and I am beginning to wonder if the medication is worsening her anxiety symptoms.  She is also taking Paxil and Klonopin.

From my own experience, pimozide (orap) caused anxiety in myself.  I've had tourette's tics since I was 3 but was first medicated with pimozide when I was 12.  It caused not only anxiety in myself but also a lot of restlessness, but it did handle my tics fairly well.  Now that I'm 27 I've managed to get off the meds and try a different approach to handling my tourette's that seems to be working fairly well (no more side effects or tics, yea!)
