could it be a pimple?

hello,

I have never had any std's,and i have never been pregnant, nor have had any yeast infections.the day before as i was taking a shower,i noticed i bump on the inner lip of the my vagina.my boyfriend has pimples and he also has boils under his armpits.also the week before i noticed two bumps in the corner of my armpit similar to the one i found on the lip of my vagina, same size and coloring and they all itch.it did cause pain and itching, then i noticed the next day,it had burst like a pimple.my question is \,was this a pimple,if so,is it possible through the transferance of fluid that i have came in contact with bacteria that he has in his body from his boils.because like i told him,i have never had bumps on my body like these on me,let alone in my vaginal area.he says boils are not contagious,i say they are full of bacteria and that their could be a possibility of infecting someone else.he says that the bacteria, stays within the body of the infected person.is it possible that fluid exchange is responsible for me getting these bumps that he normally has on his body? please she some light on this,he says it was an infected hair folicle, but how can that be in an area where there is no hair? thanks

Hello,

To have a better idea of what this was you'd have to be examined.  It does sound like an obstructed hair follicle that resulted in a furuncle (or sebaceous cyst) then spontaneouly drained.  I suggest you get examined by an ob/gyn and have an STD screen as well.

Could it be something contagious?  Generally boils are not, but if your boyfriends boils are due to a type of bacteria called staph aureas, there may be a connection.  This is even more reason for you to see a physician and for him to have one of his boils cultured.

Best regards,

Dr. Downing
