Kidney stone

by hondo8, May 21, 2008 06:01PM
I had a kidney stone on the left that moved 18 days ago. I went to the er were I had a ct and it was near the end of the ureter at the bladder opening. A couple of days  later my urologist shot dye into my kidney and took exrays and said the stone was not there. Its 12 days later and I am still having pain of and on down the left side of my penis and some lower back pain. The pain is not sever and stopes for hours sometimes. Could the stone still be in my ureter or could it be from damage from the scope?

Hi.

The pain may still be secondary to the presence of the stone. How large was the stone? It is possible that this has dislodged and may have passed through. Is the current pain similar to the previous one or is this something less or more severe?

Stones of less than 5 mm in diameter may readily pass through the ureters and urethra. Those greater than this may require surgical intervention. In your case, the stone may have been expelled. Try to observe if the pain persists. If it does, you may seek a second opinion on this. A repeat scan of the kidneys , ureter and bladder may be necessary.
