Hypertension drug reactions

by James7210, May 21, 2008 11:07PM
I am a 72 y.o. male; have been taking Lisinopril for at least two years in the a.m. with no other drugs or vitamins.  Approximately four weeks ago,  two/three hours after I take Lisinopril, I began weakness, lightheaded, legs shake (internally, cannot visibly be observed), cough.  Could you suggest a substitute that does not have these side effects?

I have been on meny b.p meds over the past 20 years !  im 54 now in somewhat normal shape - Lisinopril (zestril)  ace inhibbitors  have meny side effects, most people cant take them due to the harsh side effects that happen!  its writen on most side effect sheets or online - if a person gets lightheaded feelings or faint feelings- weakness to go back to your Doctor and tell them.. as it is a adverse side effect ! or allergic reaction to the meds.  im taking a ccb now verapamil and at night I get internal shakes - and cant sleep well and swelling ankles.  every single b.p medication out there has some kind of
harsh side effect - unless your made of steel.  and can take anything ? most can not !!

I hate to say it, but so far there is nothing out there without somekind of evil side effect
that is chemical - for high blood pressure lowering .

maybe you can go back to your Doctor and see if he or she will work with you to find
something you can take . by testing you on it.. first !    (most wont do that )  if in a hmo
or ppo plan..   but its worth a try !
as all people react diffrent to diffrent medications.

Its no fun dealing with Doctors - and being treated like a ginny pig on diffrent meds..
but we cant loose hope !  as maybe something will work ..

take care
