Voice is weak, gets hoarse easily

Lately I find it more difficult to sing loudly for a long period of time and if I do try to force my voice out for more than a few seconds it seems to go hoarse a lot faster. I actually feel resistance when I put any force behind my voice. Not fun when you are a singer/songwriter.
I can get pretty bad indigestion. I was on Prevacid for a few months but my Dr. suggested I stop taking it due to it causing bruising on my skin. I was fairly confident that I could control the indigestion with diet, which I have been moderately successful at so far.
Horrible indigestion is a new thing for me. Last August I got a second degree sunburn on my head. I was prescribed a Medrol Dos Pak for the inflammation. I noticed the side effects were indigestion. Oddly, since then I have had very very bad indigestion when before I never had it nearly as bad.
Could the indigestion cause the symptoms I'm feeling? If not what can? Post nasal drip? Is there anything serious I need to be aware of?
Also, I do not get the burning pain in the chest that most feel with indigestion, rather I get it in my throat. Also, sometimes when I eat too much, I can burp and whole pieces of food will came back up. Does this mean that I am so backed up that it isn't going down properly?
