Late motor skills development and Speech Delay

by Laurelin, May 22, 2008 05:46PM
Hi, I am Lin from the Philippines, I have a 3-year-old daughter who cannot walk on her own and cannot talk yet. I already consulted a Pediatrician(Neurologist) and was advised that my daughter should undergo EEG. And according to the results, her brain is normal and she is normal as well. At her first year, she cannot control her legs while walking, but due to exercises that and guiding her to walk, she was able to control it now. She lacks balancing while walking that's why she needs to be assisted everytime she likes to walk. She can respond, she can react and but she cannot talk. The Pediatrician told us that she should undergo PT , Speech Therapy and Occupational Therapy but it may require a bigger a amount per session. Any idea?

hi there, my daughter is 3 yrs and 7 mths and she is unable to walk on her own too , she is also a special need child. but with assistance she can do it. did she ever had a hearing and speech test done? theraphy is great , my daughter has that and it is helping a great deal . her trunk is still weak so you have to choose activities and help her do exercise when playing so you can strengthened her lower extremities.talk alot to her, have her around kids alot is a good thing. get the baby bumble bee video or baby eisteins and play it continually and you would be surprise, I did that with my daughter and I started her early at school and she is doing great now but not perfect yet, she has the same problem like your daughter, but she you would be amaze of her  if you get the right tools to work with.
