Trying again..everyone please, advice is needed!

by Joshs_Angels, May 22, 2008 07:38PM
As I've said, the spotting I had was actually a sign of something going wrong and i sadly did have a miscarriage on monday at 8w1d. So really I have no actual reason to still be posting in this forum group except there isnt one for m/c and i was already here, and figured alot of you could help. my ob/gyn said that i'd only have to wait for one period to occur and pass before we try again. since that would be so close to this happening, it seems to soon to me, in the way of being so soon that it would result in m/c again. what would really calm me down and give me inspiration is knowing any of your ladies' experiences with this. for those of you who have miscarried, how long did you wait to try again, and was it successful? and how long were you told to wait, and what were the percautions with your next pregnancy (if any)? we so desperately want to try again, but waiting only basically one month/month & 1/2 just seems so soon.
girls, a little help?
:)

First of all, I'm sorry that you had to go thru that....It;s tough, physically and moreso mentally.

I had a missed M/C in Dec. (I'[ll try to keep this as short as possible....) meaning I went for a routine U/S and they found twins, neither with a heartbeat.  I never actually M/C'd.  Due to there being twins (increased blood volume) they wanted to do a D&C that day....My first pregnancy and confused as to why I had no symptoms, I refused.....I had Hcg levels drawn, waited out the weekend to see if things would happen on their own...and they never did.  I found that Mon. that Hcg levels dropped and had the D&C that day.

My OB told us to wait 3 cycles before trying again.......But this was post D&C.  My friend had a natural M/C and the same OB told her to wait one month.  I'm 34 and basically told my OB that we weren't waiting to try again b/c it took us 5 months the first time around, and that would put me at 35 (another can of worms)......He said that the main risk was increased chance of M/C if the new embryo implanted in the same spot as one of the twins had.  I don't understand, as with a D&C, they basically 'clean' the lining of the uterus out....

Anyway, it took 4 months to conceive again.......The only thing that I can say is to wait until you feel emotionally ready to try again.....Your body won't let is happen until it's ready again (or so I like to think)........

As far as I know, no precautions will be taken with your next pregnancy...as most Dr.'s dont' consider you high risk until you've had 3+ miscarriages....Kind of a bummer b/c I was hoping for special treatment this time around!  :o)

Best wishes!

I also had a very m/c in December of '07.  Christmas morning if you can believe that.  It was a very early m/c and happened on its own.  Once I felt emotionally and physically ready we started TTCing again and I was pregnant by late February '08.  15 weeks today.  If I had it to do over again I might wait another month, but time was not in my favor as I am 34.  Best of luck to you and I am sorry to hear of your loss.

Well the waiting period is yours for the choosing.  I am 35 and will deliver at 36.  Age is pretty minor....there are women on this site 10 yrs older than me having their 1st child or their 10th.  Its mind blowing the women over 40 giving birth now days.  ( I dont know if I could do it myself LOL) When you are ready....go for it.  So dont let age scare you.

Ive had 2 previous m/c and the last was Jan08. I did NOT have a period and was pregnant late Feb 08 (we were NOT trying).  After my D&C I had no preg symptoms within a few days. Trust me when March came and I didnt have a cycle I told DH I thought it was strange because i now had preg symptoms and I even took a HPT that came back neg.  A wk later I still felt preg and my DH made me call my doc...he took blood and called me the next day telling us CONGRATS! What a surprise! I am 15 wks on Sat with a healthy baby without complications thus far (and God willing) I deliver without any issues as well.  The time in between is more emotional than physical I think with most people.  Whatever you decided I wish you well and want to remind you with your next preg....until you pass your previous m/c timeframe you are going to WORRY.  But just keep reminding yourself...its going to be just fine.  And it will be. :-)
