HSV-1 and HSV-2 low positives

Recently had the HerpeSelect test and all results came back negative with the exception of the HSV-1 (1.03) and HSV-2 (1.17).  From reading some of the postings, these are very low positives.  Do you recomment retesting?  I am not sure how to proceed.  Don't want to be lulled into this false sense that there is nothing to worry about.   However, I have had no symptoms for either.  Can you help?

How long ago was it that you last had sex before tested?

Oral on 5/16/08 and intercourse on 4/5/08.  Decided to test for my own information.    Not because of symptoms or anything like that.  Married for many years and divorced a year ago.  Two encounters mentioned above were the only since my divorce.

I'd wait another month and then retest to see what they are then since your last time of intercourse was only about 6 weeks ago.

is that because you think that the numbers are likely to go up because there has not been enough time that has elapsed?  Also, do u think I can pass this if i am not having symptoms if it is a true positive or is it still in its infancy and probability of passing it is lowered?  Sorry for being so ignorant about this but I just don't know.  Also, if your experience, what do numbers like these usually indicate?

If it's a newly acquired infection your numbers will likely be higher.  If it's a false positive they will either be about the same or even lower.  Once you repeat your blood tests if they are still low positive then additional testing will need to be done.

If they are still low positive, then additional testing WILL or WILL NOT need to be done?  Just need to clarify what you mean here.  Thanks.

"Once you repeat your blood tests if they are still low positive then additional testing will need to be done"

Just what it sounds like - if when you repeat your blood tests if they are still a low positive then you'll need another blood test like a biokit hsv2 igg or a herpes WB to sort out a false positive or a true positive.

Retested on 6/11/08 for HSV-2 specifically.  Results came back as equivocal with a numerical value of 1.09.  My original test result for HSV-2 was 1.17.  While the number has dropped, I am not sure if I am out of the woods.  What do you recommend?   Should I retest again in say another month or should I just go for the WB and get it over with?  A part of me feels like I am worrying for no reason since that is my nature however I just dont want to assume anything.  And I certainly don't want to pass this along to anyone.  I have not experienced any lesions or anything like that however I have had tingling and a sore spot which hasn't resulted in anything.  I feel like I am hypersensitive to anything that I am feeling in the genital area when before I would never have noticed.  Your thoughts?

Chances are really good your original hsv2 igg was a false positive but I"d wait until the 4 month mark and then get either a biokit hsv2 test or the herpes WB just to err on the side of caution.  I wouldn't sweat it too much - just cover the bases.  If you have problems getting either of those tests - just repeat your hsv2 igg one more time.

And if I test again in another month and the results are about the same or even lower but not < .90, should I assume that I am not positive?  I am asking in the event that the biokit or WB is difficult to get.  Thanks for  your comments.
