TIA's ?

by MAXWELL55, May 23, 2008 12:52AM
Every 4 to 6 weeks for the past year I have been having episodes where the left side of my mouth is pulled down and my speech is hard to understand and I have trouble getting words out. This lasts for 2 to 3 hours..   I went to a neurologist and he had an MRI of my head and carotid arteries done and they came back normal. He offered no further advise or testing.  Does this mean I am not having TIA's? Should I pursue further testing?
Thanks!

Hello Dear,
MRI is used to detect  pathological changes. If the images are normal then you should not worry. There could be chances of facial nerve palsy which may be causing distortion of face and slurred speech. You should consult your neurologist about this.
