1st Tri Blood Work Back

by jenandjon, May 23, 2008 08:51AM
Well I finally got the results of my free beta and PAPP (pregnancy associatated plasma protein) tests yesterday and it was all within normal ranges.  I finally feel like I can breathe a bit better.

After those borderline NT results I was really depressed, but these #s have helped me feel better.

We are still doing the Quad on 5/29 and a Level II u/s on June 9th to verify everything still looks ok.

Thanks girls for helping me get through that rough time.

Yippee!!  Are you going to do an amnio?  I had my AFP yesterday and if it comes back "funky" we may do the amnio.  If it is OK, we may not.....

I think we are going to wait for the results from the Quad and the u/s (as it takes several days for the blood work to come back, we should know at about the same time).

When we evaluate the risk of m/c from the amnio vs. the risk after all the test results come in, that's probably when we'll make our decision.

Thanks again.

When I go back to my midwife i think June 24th she mentioned something about Quad test, is that just blood work or ultrasound?

The Quad test is a blood test.  It tests AFP, hCG, Estriol, (uE3), Inhibin (DIA, dimeric Inhibin-A).  See if you can take a look at this link that shows how normal levels at 14-20 weeks are compared to those who are carrying Down's Syndrome or Trisomy 18 babies.
