ultrasound results

by Anna896, May 23, 2008 12:27PM
Hi. I am 20.5 weeks pregnant. Today I went to make my rutine ultrasound and I was told that some structures in my baby's brain are missing. I will only see my doctor at the end of next week, and I worry so much I can not do anything. How serious is that? Is it possible that the doctor just could not see because of the baby's position? How accurate are the results? Please, help.

I would wait until you talk to your doctor and he interpretes the results of the ultrasound.

The doctor may do a follow up U/S when you go back to double check... but I'd wait until you see him/her.

Get a more high def ultrsound done. and whatevery they reccomend get a second opinion. I unfortantly  had a emegancy u/s doen at 17.5 weeks and the found the same thing along with several more fatel abnormalities. i was induced at 19 weeks as my baby had a 0% chance of surving to term due to severe defects from trisomy 13 (had an amnio done) I do wish now that i had of waited for nature to take care of things. Also i believe if it was very serious they would have had you in that day or the next, my Dr called me 2 hours after the u/s, i saw a specialist a few hours later and then the next day went to another city for an intense (2 hour) u/s. I know i probably haven't helped much, i would try to get into the Dr sooner because no matter what anyone says you are just going to stress about it.

I just heard from the doctor. She scheduled the second Ultrasound, but told me the there is no hope the baby is going to be healthy.
