I was just diagnosed this week

by mrsmaynard3, May 23, 2008 12:46PM
Hi everyone!!  I was just diagnosed this week with PCOS, I'm sooooo glad that there are so many others out there, who are going through the same stuff that I am.  It's very scary to hear/read what may or may not happen down the road.  I just started Metformin yesterday, and my OBGYN prescribed Seasonale.  I'm working hard on changing my diet, and exercise!  Anyone have any helpful words?

Hey there!
I also have PCOS...I was so nervous when they diagnosed me 2 years ago- but Im pretty used to it now. Im also taking metformin- but i havent heard about the Seasonale- what does that help with? All I can say is good job on working on the diet and exercising!! Stick with it- I slacked it off when I was first diagnosed and ended up losing my left fallopian tube last year. Now- im all for the healthy diet and exercise.  =]

I am sooo sorry to hear that you lost a fallopian tube!  I haven't heard of that happening--would you tell me more?  At least so I know what could happen?  Seasonale is a birth control pill--like YAZ, where you don't get a period, it's just continuous estrogen & progesterone.  I get severe migraines, and cramps, they think this could eliminate both.  Plus, it lets the reproductive system "rest" by not producing eggs--which is a problem for  me anyway, with PCOS.  Have you had any problems with Metformin?  It has been so harsh on my stomach & I've gotten such awful diahhrea!  The only good thing with it so far, my OBGYN said it'd make me lose weight--I have absolutely NO appetite.
