diaphragm pain after pneumonia

I am off work (8 weeks now) with pneumonia at the base of my right lung. I have just had a follow up x-ray and the infection has cleared. I am still experiencing horrific crushing pain between my breast bone and back. It feels like an elephant standing on my chest whilst someone digs their elbow in my back! I can't sleep on my back or right side as the pain is so bad. What do you suggest?

This pain could be coming from residual inflammation of the pleura, which is the membrane that encases the lung and the inner chest surface. It would be wise for you to ask your doctor if the quality of this pain could suggest a non-pneumonia-related cause and if testing of your heart might be appropriate.
